Blackmagic Design Ultrastudio 12G Release

Blackmagic Design just announced their new Ultrastudio Mini 12G family of products, which includes three very compact Thunderbolt 4 capture and playback devices. The models have been designed for professional broadcast, post-production and live production workflows. They also support every SD-, HD- and Ultra HD videostandards all the way up until 2160p60 resolution.

The Ultrastudio Mini 12G Models:

• Ultrastudio Mini Recorder 12G, which offers professional capture from 12G-SDI and HDMI
• Ultrastudio Mini Monitor 12G, which offers professional monitoring via 12G-SDI and HDMI, along with support for 10-bit Fill and Key
• Ultrastudio Mini Replay 12G, a powerful option for both capturing and playback, featuring 12G-SDI input and output, independent 12G-SDI Fill and Key outputs, a dedicaed 12G-SDI monitoring output and support for the new live action replay featured in DaVinci Resolve 20

All Ultrastudio Mini 12G models have a Thunderbolt 4 plug which carries both power and video signal simultaneously. The devices also support 10-bit unpacked video along with a vast selection of professional video formats and real-time alpha-channel processing for broadcast use.

Blackmagic Design’s Ultrastudio Mini 12G family of products are very streamlined and work wonderfully with the most popular video editing software, naturally with their DaVinci Resolve, but also with Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Avid Media Composer, Adobe After Effects, Fusion as well as with OBS Studio.

Ultrastudio Express 3G Changes

In addition to the new Ultrastudio 12G family of products, Blackmagic Design also just announced their fully reworked versions of the well-established Ultrastudio Recorder and Monitor. The central addition to the use of these new Ultrastudio Express Monitor 3G and Ultrastudio Express Recorder 3G is that they now have both USB4 as well as Thunderbolt 4 connectivity.

Both models feature all multi-rate 3G-SDI and HDMI connections, which support every SD- and HD-videostandards. With SD the Ultrastudio Express 3G supports 525i59.94 and 625i50 standards and with HD they support from 720p, 1080i, 1080p all the way to 1080p60.
